What does the Bible say about the eagle?

Great question! Here's the answer:

The Bible says the eagle is a strong creature, and God is often compared to the eagle (Exodus 19:4).

Eagles are big, beautiful birds that fly high in the sky. Eagles are known to symbolize freedom, strength, and power. This is why America made the eagle its national bird in 1792. Rome also used the eagle as their country's symbol in ancient times.

The Bible talks about eagles first in Leviticus 11:13. In this passage, eagles are placed alongside vultures and other unclean birds. These birds were not to be eaten because they would make the Israelites very sick. Eagles can act as scavengers since they are birds of prey, and they can consume harmful toxins to humans. This is why God did not want Israel to eat eagles.

Eagles are also used symbolically in the Bible, as God is likened to an eagle caring for her young in Exodus 19:4. Just as a mother eagle cares for her babies, God cares for us. He will never allow us to fall or vanish from His sight. God is always on our side, and He will forever fight for us (Exodus 14:14).

Eagles represent God's handiwork in creation (Proverbs 30:19). Job 39:27 says, "Do you command eagles to fly so high? They build their nests as high as they can." God created the eagle to be mighty in power and force. All of God's creation is magnificent, including eagles. When we see an eagle, we should reflect on God's strength, might, and power.

Bible Truth

“But those who trust in the Lord will receive new strength. They will fly as high as eagles. They will run and not get tired. They will walk and not grow weak” (Isaiah 40:31).

“‘You have built your home as high as an eagle does. You have made your nest among the stars. But I will bring you down from there,” announces the Lord” (Obadiah 1:4).

“As I watched, I heard an eagle that was flying high in the air. It called out in a loud voice, ‘How terrible! How terrible it will be for those living on the earth! How terrible! They will suffer as soon as the next three angels blow their trumpets!’” (Revelation 8:13).
