What are the greatest miracles in the Bible?
Great question! Here's the answer:
The greatest miracles in the Bible are the ones that prove the power, glory, and might of God.
The Bible is filled with miracles, impossible things that happen by the hand of God (Psalm 77:14). Not just anyone can perform a miracle. It has to be by the power of God. A miracle is a wonderful expression of God working in the lives of mankind.
There are many miracles reported in the Bible, including miracles of healing. These include Jesus' healing of the nobleman's son (John 4:46–47), a leper (Mark 1:40–45), a paralytic (Matthew 9:1–8), and a woman with an issue of blood (Luke 8:43–48). Jesus also performed miracles over demonic forces, such as casting out many unclean spirits (Mark 1:23–28; Matthew 8:28–34). All of these were by the hand of God, as Jesus is God in the flesh.
We also see miracles of provision in the Bible, including God providing manna for Israel (Exodus 16:4), Jesus' miracle of turning water into wine at a wedding (John 2:7–9), and Jesus feeding the thousands (Matthew 14:19–20; 15:36–37). The miracles of resurrection are important as well, as they show the Lord's power. These accounts include Elijah's raising of the son of the widow of Zarephath (1 Kings 17:17–24), Elisha's raising the Shunammite woman's son from the dead (2 Kings 4:18–37), Jesus' raising of the widow of Nain's son from the dead (Luke 7:11–18), Jesus raising Jairus's daughter (Luke 8:52–56), and the resurrection of Lazarus by the hand of Jesus (John 11).
God's power was also at work in the lives of the apostles. The miracles they performed were Peter raising Tabitha from the grave (Acts 9:36–43) and Paul's raising Eutychus from the dead (Acts 20:7–12). However, by far, the most notable resurrection miracle was the Lord's resurrection (Luke 24:1–7). Through placing faith in Jesus' death, burial, and resurrection, we can also experience a wonderful miracle: salvation. By believing in Jesus, we can be forgiven of the bad things we have done, have a right relationship with God, and have an eternal home in heaven.
Bible Truth
“God did amazing miracles through Paul” (Acts 19:11).
“After he said this, he spit on the ground. He made some mud with the spit. Then he put the mud on the man’s eyes. 'Go,' he told him. 'Wash in the Pool of Siloam.' Siloam means Sent. So the man went and washed. And he came home able to see” (John 9:6–7).
"'We have only five loaves of bread and two fish,' they answered. 'Bring them here to me,' he said. Then Jesus directed the people to sit down on the grass. He took the five loaves and the two fish. He looked up to heaven and gave thanks. He broke the loaves into pieces. Then he gave them to the disciples. And the disciples gave them to the people. All of them ate and were satisfied. The disciples picked up 12 baskets of leftover pieces. The number of men who ate was about 5,000. Women and children also ate” (Matthew 14:17–21).
