Were Adam and Eve saved?
Great question! Here's the answer:
Adam and Eve fell from grace once they ate the forbidden fruit (Genesis 3:1–24). Ever since Adam and Eve sinned against God, there has been a separation between humanity and God. This brokenness was repaired by Jesus Christ. He came into the world to save humanity and repair our broken relationship with the Father (John 3:16–17).
In the present day, we know we can place faith in Jesus by believing that He died for our sins, was buried, and rose again (1 Corinthians 15:1–4). Paul tells us, "Say with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord.' Believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead. Then you will be saved. With your heart you believe and are made right with God. With your mouth you say what you believe. And so you are saved. Scripture says, 'The one who believes in him will never be put to shame'" (Romans 10:9–11).
However, Adam and Eve lived a long time before Jesus was born into the world. They would not have heard the gospel message. But they did walk with God and understand His plan for salvation (Genesis 3:15). Adam and Eve were aware of their sin and nakedness, which is why they tried to cover themselves (Genesis 3:7–11). While we don't know for sure if Adam and Eve were saved, it would be reasonable to say they believed in God and placed their faith in Him.
Bible Truth
“Sin entered the world because one man sinned. And death came because of sin. Everyone sinned, so death came to all people… So one man’s sin brought guilt to all people. In the same way, one right act made people right with God. That one right act gave life to all people… Sin ruled and brought death. But grace rules in the lives of those who are right with God. The grace of God brings eternal life. That’s because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done.” (Romans 5:12, 18, 21).
