What are saints?

Great question! Here's the answer:

Saints are those who are devoted to God, Christians.

The word "saint" comes from the Greek word, hagios. This word means "consecrated to God, holy, sacred, pious." Those who are saints are people who are devoted to God. In other words, they are people who are set apart for the work of God. This could refer to any believer who wants to dedicate their life to the work and service of God.

In truth, all of us are saints because we are part of the family of God. Anyone who has placed faith in Jesus Christ is a saint. We all have been sanctified and made holy in the Lord (1 Corinthians 1:2). We have been called and set apart from the world to follow God. This is an important calling we must answer and faithfully devote our lives to. We should also support our fellow saints and treat them with the utmost respect.

The Catholic Church recognizes certain saints, but this is not the same as biblical saints. The Catholic Church will canonize certain, especially faithful individuals after they have passed away by declaring them to be a saint. However, within biblical terms, this is not accurate. All believers are saints, as we are made holy through Jesus' death.

Bible Truth

“Peter traveled around the country. He went to visit the Lord’s people who lived in Lydda” (Acts 9:32).

“So Christ himself gave the gift of the apostles to the church. He gave the prophets and those who preach the good news. And he also gave the pastors and teachers as a gift to the church. He gave all these people so that they might prepare God’s people to serve. Then the body of Christ will be built up” (Ephesians 4:11–12).

“There should not be even a hint of sexual sin among you. Don’t do anything impure. And do not always want more and more. These are not the things God’s holy people should do” (Ephesians 5:3).
